Quit to Play Chess is the final studio album by Cola Boyy, who passed away in March 2024 after winning the hearts of neo-disco and funk enthusiasts, from Los Angeles to Paris, and from Coachella to London. After a critically acclaimed EP (Black Boogie Neon, 2018), a debut album (Prosthetic Boombox, 2021), and collaborations with the likes of MGMT, Benny Sings, and The Avalanches, the self-proclaimed Disabled Disco Innovator was able to finish his new album, groovier than ever. Without boundaries of style, tinted with hip-hop, R&B, and drum & bass, and faithful to his very unique flow, Cola Boyy offers one last record in his image: 12 generous, inventive, psychedelic, and passionate tracks.
