Astronaut Pushers- Fires of Love (Ep)

Astronaut Pushers- Fires of Love (Ep)
Astronaut Pushers- Fires of Love (Ep)

Astronaut Pushers originally met in a collision of mutual admiration in Nashville, TN in the early 2000s. Around the same time Sam Ashworth (Grammy & Academy Award-nominated songwriter) and Matt Slocum (Sixpence None the Richer) were writing together, Lindsay Jamieson arrived from London with UK band Departure Lounge to start a residency in East Nashville. A huge fan of The Sundays, Matt was happy to learn that Lindsay had played drums on their demos and tambourine on their records. Sam, Lindsay and Matt soon formed Astronaut Pushers and started playing shows at local Nashville venues. They attracted many fellow musicians to these early shows, including Ben Folds, Fleming & John, and future member John Davis (Superdrag). According to Sam, Ben Folds was impressed: "Ben came to one of our first shows... and soon after hired Lindsay to record with him." It was also around this time that John Davis first jammed with the Astronaut Pushers, all of whom were fans of Superdrag and excited at the opportunity. John was soon an official member. The newfound foursome recorded and released a four-song EP on CD (later reissued on vinyl by Lost In Ohio in 2022) and performed their final show opening for Silversun Pickups at Exit/In, Nashville before Ben Folds' Songs for Silverman was released to critical acclaim and Lindsay departed for a tour across the US and Europe. Fast-forward to 2023, Sam, Lindsay & Matt regrouped in Nashville to write some new Pushers music. John contributed lyrics via remote, and "Fires Of Love" was born. Sam's wife Ruby Amanfu added some stellar vocals to the track and it is now presented on a fresh new 12" along with captivating remixes by This NVR Happened, Ciel Eckard-Lee & Charlie Peacock. The band is currently writing songs for a full-length album.
