In theirfirst year, they've been dubbed "London'sbuzziest band" by The Guardian, played bigshows with LCD Soundsystem and Fcukersand tiny ones in London bars and restaurantbasements, and now they finally release aphysical single, produced by James Murphy,his first production for another band in over adecade."5words" builds slowly into a euphoric urbanepic, sounding equally indebted to the VelvetUnderground, Orbital, Echoes-era Rapture,and the Dean Blunt cinematic universe, and,honestly, Nirvana. It sounds like decadescollapsing into the present, enabled byfrictionless discovery and resolved throughthe simplest method: four people in a roomsearching for something new, somethinggreat, a good feeling.The b-side features a remix by none otherthan Maurice Fulton, his first DFA creditsince those Syclops records became instantclassics in 2008. Maurice is one of thegreatest remixers and producers of his eraand architect of a sound so singular andidentifiable that even all his pseudonyms can'tfool the trainspotters. This one is just the type:thrillingly off-center and unavoidably banging.
