Pianist Mikiko Nagatake and drummer Ko Omura's unit 'Efreydut' is going to release their first album with bassist Kanoa Mendenhall, who has played in the bands of Joel Ross and Aaron Parks. This collection of Japanese and American talents was recorded at the venerable Sear Sound Studios in the summer of 2023. Steven Sacco, who handled all recording, mixing, and mastering, praised the trio as 'a wonderful trio that runs the gamut between melody and dynamics, always maintaining a musical conversation between the two. This is a must-hear contemporary jazz release, richly textured and realized in the wonderful New York environment.
