Howlin' Wolf- All Night Boogie

Chester Burnett wasn't your typical bluesman. Born in Mississippi in 1910, he came up in the fields but was cut from a different cloth than the quiet country folks around him. With a howl that could shake the mud off the Delta, Wolf didn't just play the blues; he snarled, growled, and roared his way through them. In 1928, armed with a guitar his father handed down, he soaked up the local legends like Charley Patton and got his chops on a harmonica gifted by none other than Sonny Boy Williamson. Soon enough, he was turning heads on the juke circuit, baptizing himself as Howlin' Wolf and giving folks a sound they'd never forget. Here you have the alternate and extended versions of the original master tapes from 'The London Howlin' Wolf Session', recorded May 6th & 7th, 1970. Produced by Norm Dayron, these takes are a fresh shot of that pure Wolf energy that captures him in full roar, laying down blistering takes on classics like "Red Rooster" and "Commit a Crime" with Chicago's finest blues players behind him. These rare and elusive cuts are further proof to blues fans of Wolf's undeniable ability and serve as a hard-hitting reminder of his legend. It is essential listening for anyone who still believes the blues should bite.
