Kooymans, who is known as one of the founders, vocalists and guitarists of the popular band Golden Earring, became well-known with his band. Amongst many others, he wrote the song 'Twilight Zone', which hit #1 on the Billboard Top Album Tracks chart. Solo is an album with many own compositions, complemented with a rock version of the Sonny & Cher hit 'The Beat Goes On'.
