Scarlatti's harpsichord art is swift moving and energetic, not 'courtesan,' refined and saturated with ornaments like the music of Rameau and Couperin, rich in precious touches close to the rococo paintings of Fragonard and Watteau. This extreme variety of compositional attitudes is amply evident in this recording that is a selection, in a variegated musical anthology, of a dozen Sonatas of diverse type and chronological date, transcribed and arranged for guitar by the performer, the guitarist Lucio Dosso, with the exception of two (the Sonata in a major K 209 of Aragon jota rhythm transcribed by Barrueco and the K 11 in E minor by Segovia).
