The director's cut version of "out of noise" was released with remastering. "-R" was added to the title. This is Ryuichi Sakamoto's first solo album released by commmons in 2009. This is the first original solo album without any synthesizers, and is a quiet instrumental work. The album features the British ancient music performance group Fretwork, Tamami Higashino, Keigo Oyamada, Hirotaka Shimizu, Ren Takada, Christian Fennesse, Rob Moose, and more artists. The album includes "disko," "ice," and "glacier." The song "glacier" was later used in the films "The Revenant" (directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu in 2016) and "Monster" (directed by Hirokazu Koreeda in 2023).
