Singer, percussionist and flautist Dédé Saint-Prix has been the high priest of French Caribbean music for five decades. Born on Martinique Island, he popularized the folk music genre chouval bwa and took it to every continent, blending it with other rhythms from Africa, the Caribbean and the island of Reunion. A militant musician and teacher - he continues to pass on the tradition as well as being a wonderful entertainer - Dédé Saint-Prix has today become a genuine "living legend."
