Charlie Barnet- Charlie Barnet Big Band - 1967

Released in 1967 on Vault Records, this LP was not only Charlie Barnet's final recording before he retired but is also the last that jazz veteran and legendary altoist Willie Smith ever made. Featuring arrangements for the orchestra from Billy Byers and Bill Holman, solos by Barnet (on alto and soprano), pianist Jack Wilson and trumpeter Conte Candoli, and with a lovely Ruth Price vocal on "Something to Live For" thrown in for good measure, this album is a must-have for any big band jazz aficionado and is a wonderful testament to Barnet's 32-year recording career. With tracks including 'Snowfall' and 'Clap Hands, Here Comes Charlie!'.

Track List

  1. Rabble Rouser
  2. Satin Doll
  3. Bali Bali Buck Dance
  4. Something to Live for
  5. Upper Manhattan Medical Group
  6. Clap Hands Here Comes Charlie!
