Dread Ogre- Get Ready For The Storm
Sweden's metal scene, a breeding ground for death and doom in particular, has yielded countless greats - from established names to more recent underground standouts like STONEGRIFF, whose hiatus after two killer albums left a void. But a new entity named DREAD OGRE has arrived in the doom metal scene, rising from STONEGRIFF's ashes. Their vocalist Jacob, also handling guitars here, brought with him their last bassist Michael, and recruited Ludwig of GRAND MAGUS as a drummer, while the legendary Andy LaRocque took care of recording, mixing, mastering and production. Their bare-bones style is effective in it's simplicity - a perfect example of "less is more". Despite the often trudging tempos, a distinct metallic edge cuts through, making their music more appealing also for metalheads who aren't die-hard fans of doom. This is largely due to the charismatic singer with an enormous vocal range, using mostly ominous rasps and wails, culminating in high-pitched screams. So... get ready for the storm! A thunderous, molten and evil doom metal slab. This is the closest you will get to STONEGRIFF's music, which also means fans of KRUX, BLACK SABBATH, CANDLEMASS, PENTAGRAM, SAINT VITUS, SPIRITUS MORTIS, IRON MAN, LAS CRUCES as well as GRAND MAGUS should take note.
