This reissue is an overview of "Hoss" Allen's Rogana Productions company of the 1960s. The Hossman was best known as a DJ at WLAC radio, a 50,000 watt clear channel R&B powerhouse from the 1940s-'60s, but he was much more. A true "renaissance man," he also had a television show (The !!!! Beat) and two record companies, Athens and Hermitage, as well as Rogana Productions. Hoss produced some great records by artists like Earl Gaines, Sam Baker and Dee Brown at studios in both Nashville and Muscle Shoals. The records were licensed to a host of independent record labels around the country, and many feature legendary blues guitarist Johnny Jones. Most of the material here has never been reissued and none has ever been available on an American label.
