Jacques Brel- A La Radio (Vinyl)
In 1954 and 1956, the radio recorded Jacques Brel's first live performances in the cabarets Chez Geneviève and Chez Gilles. Accompanied only by his guitar, the newcomer to Paris delivered, with the confidence of a future star, his first compositions, including the song Quand on n'a que l'amour, captured here several months before the studio recording that would be released as a 45 rpm. A real gem! In July 1965, at the height of his career, Jacques Brel recorded a jam session at the Maison de la Radio, during which he gave us a deeply moving version of Amsterdam, accompanied only by Gérard Jouannest on piano and Pierre Sim on double bass. The B-side features a live recital recorded for the show "Discoparade" at the Alhambra in 1962, where the artist-now far from his intimate beginnings-is accompanied by a piano and a string ensemble.
