The Kansas City born trumpeter Carmell Jones was quickly signed by Pacific Jazz soon after his arrival in Los Angeles in 1960, and in addition to appearing on sessions led by labelmates Gerald Wilson, Bud Shank, and Curtis Amy, Jones began what seemed sure to be a promising recording career with his impressive and accurately titled 1961 debut The Remarkable Carmell Jones. The album found Jones in excellent company with a top-shelf band featuring tenor saxophonist Harold Land, pianist Frank Strazzeri, bassist Gary Peacock, and drummer Leon Pettis. Jones comes out of the gate swinging with an inventive solo on Duke Ellington’s “I’m Gonna Go Fishin’” and delivers fireworks on the breakneck paced “Night Tide.” But Jones also proves himself an effective balladeer on a stunning rendition of the Arlen/Mercer standard “Come Rain Or Come Shine” and his own striking original “Stellisa.” Jones would go on to record two more leader dates for Pacific Jazz and later joined the Horace Silver Quintet appearing on the pianist’s timeless classic Song For My Father before abruptly moving to Germany in 1965 where he would stay for the next 15 years.

Shipping Recommendations
In order to ship your records to you in the safest way possible, and to avoid seam splits, we recommend removing the record from the jacket when shipping. That said, we will never open sealed records and do this without your permission. If you would like your records shipped to you this way, please request this in the notes section of checkout. Darkside Records - How We Ship
Please review our shipping policy (link below) for information on our shipping rates and import fees.
Shipping Policy
Free Shipping offer applies to US orders only. We will choose the most economical way to ship your items. If you have preorders in your cart, and opt for free shipping, all items will ship with the last remaining preorder in the order. Turntables/Speakers/Consoles are not eligible for free shipping.
All domestic Vinyl orders ship via UPS/USPS Ground (with the exception of PO Boxes, APO/FPO where we must choose USPS) for a flat rate of $7.99 + $1 for each additional item. We take great care in our packaging to ensure orders arrive to you quickly and safely. Most orders are shipped within 24 hours of your order being placed (with some exceptions, e.g. post RSD when we have a massive influx of orders) and are packaged in Whiplash LP mailers that are specifically designed to protect your records. We use 100% recyclable packing materials, from paper tape to HexcelPack, to do our small part to cut out single-use plastics.
***Please note that we are not responsible for stolen packages and are not able to refund you for your purchase if your package was stolen after delivery. While we can help you file a claim, if UPS or Fedex deliver your package and take a proof of delivery photo, it is unlikely they will reimburse the missing package.
International Orders: Please note that taxes, fees and duties are worked into your shipping fees at checkout. We know and agree that international shipping rates are incredibly expensive. Unfortunately at this time we do not feel that USPS is a reliable option for us to ship international orders so our prices exclusively reflect those of UPS or Fedex. Please reach out to us with any questions.
> Due to the current limited nature of music titles, ALL CD & Vinyl purchases are limited to four copies per customer, per item. If you place multiple orders for the same title, your subsequent orders will be cancelle

How We Ship
We take great pride in our packaging and have spent years honing it so that it is not only 100% recyclable materials, but also protects your records from the woes of being tossed from truck to truck during the shipping process.
