This international superstar has become the hottest, hippest 50-something Brazilian female singer in America. Even though she's probably the only hot, hip 50-something Brazilian female singer in America, she did not earn her title by default. In the past two years, her popularity has exploded in this country, earning her the title of "Edith Piaf - the Next Generation." Even though I made that title up as I wrote this, the comparison is accurate: hip, older, foreign woman singing traditional-style music in French (and Portuguese) to Americans who only recently discovered what the rest of the world has known about for years. This is one of only two pieces available domestically (the rest are imports).
