Exploring the deep musical relationship developed over 5 years of performances at the Indianapolis club Chatterbox, flugelhornist Mark Buselli and pianist Claude Sifferlen combine dynamic textures of colorful harmonies and enticing melodies for a duo album of great beauty. Named in honor and in spirit of the Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu, the duo decided to record with nothing laid out in advance. Other than the American classics, "My Ideal," "Stablemates," and "The Nearness of You" cast in new shades, all the other pieces of music are experimental in nature and were totally improvised.
