Rhythms Unexplained is the debut album from Cincinnati psych-rock band In The Pines guitarist and vocalist Charlie Horn. For his debut solo album Horn wraps these sturdy, sometimes country, leaning rock songs with shimmering, vintage synths (which Horn salvaged and rebuilt) and depthless layers of guitars that imbue these songs with light as Horn tackles a deeply personal loss that haunts most of these songs.Fans of albums of pop songs that pull no punches like Conor Oberst's Ruminations or Big Star's Third should find a fellow traveler here - especially the latter if you are into achingly perfect recordings of someone who has spent a majority of their adult life obsessing over minute sounds but who can also devastate you with a single line.
