the album cover for Inde - Parampara (En Hommage a Gour)

Steve Gorn impressively demonstrates that it is also possible for musicians born in the West to devote themselves to the full profundity of another musical tradition and to achieve a musical maturity that is recognized as authentic by both cultures. In the early 1970s Steve Gorn studied the bamboo flute called the bansuri under Sri Gour Goswami in Calcutta. The CD is a reminder of the man who died in 1975, whose performance stirred memories of old India, in which time and space were transcended, and every raga evoked it's own landscape.

Tracklist:

  1. Rag Lalit/Vilambit
  2. Rag Lalit/Drut
  3. Rag Basant Mukhari
  4. Jogia Thumri
Format: New CD/International
