Piggyback marks the first recorded collaboration between East Coast phenom Matt Andersen and harmonica virtuoso Mike Stevens. Andersen and Stevens recorded and produced Piggyback with Scott Merritt (Fred Eaglesmith, Stephen Fearing) live off the floor at the Cottage in Guelph, Ontario. The album, consisting of 12 original songs co-written by Andersen and Stevens, features Andersen on guitar and vocals and Stevens on harmonica and spoken word. Andersen's sprawling blues, roots and rock musical hybrid and his sorrowing and soulful voice create his larger than life showmanship. His 2008 album, Something in Between, garnered both the Male Solo Recording of the Year and Blues Recording of the Year awards at the 2009 East Coast Music Awards.
