the album cover for Ghedini / Karajan - Rare Documents

Herbert von Karajan's discography, with one thousand studio recordings from 1938 to 1989, is by far the largest in the history. The Maestro recorded a group of composers several times, such as Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky and many others. Karajan started from the 78 rpm and arrived to the digital and video, passing through the European musical repertoire of at least 3 centuries and through all possible genres, from Baroque to Italian melodrama. Publishing something which does not somehow repeat one of the many titles recorded by the Maestro may seem impossible. However, these two albums offer the only works never recorded officially by the Maestro and never published with the sound quality of these documents. These are unpublished works that Karajan has never taken up again and are related to the period of his collaboration with the RAI Orchestra, except for a very rare work recorded in Berlin.
