Dexter Gordon- Go

By the time Dexter Gordon came to record Go in 1962 he had already completed nine studio albums and so was something of an experienced hand in the studio. Supporting him on this outing was the stylish pianist Sonny Clark, the energetic Billy Higgins on drums and the solid bass player Butch Warren. Whilst the three musicians are undoubtedly crucial to the overall feel of the album, this is still very much Dexter Gordon's album - it is he who calls the shots and ultimately shines. Featuring one new composition in Cheese Cake, the rest of the material finds the quartet tackling the likes of Cole Porter's Love For Sale, Harold Adamson and Jimmy McHugh's Where Are You and Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn's Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out To Dry, among others. Recorded in a single day and given the feel of a live performance (although it was recorded in a studio), the album would prove to be virtually the peak album of Dexter's career.

Track List:
1 Cheese Cake
2 Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out to Dry
3 Second Balcony Jump
4 Love for Sale
5 Where Are You?
6 Three O'Clock in the Morning
