Barry Adamson- Cut To Black
Barry Adamson taught himself to play the bass overnight and joined Magazine, Manchester's most influential band of the late 70's. After a three-year stint with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, he released his first solo album, Moss Side Story. It raised Adamson's name as a composer of diverse complexity. Having since released nine studio albums, including the 1992 Mercury Music Prize-nominated Soul Murder, he has continued to tour globally with his talents being as much in-demand by a new generation. He celebrated 40 years as an artist in 2018 with the compilation, Memento Mori, and in 2021 Omnibus Press published his memoir, Up Above The City, Down Beneath The Stars. At the start of 2024, the acclaimed documentary, Scala!!!, for which Adamson composed the original soundtrack as well as featured in the film, received it's cinematic release. His new album, Cut To Black, swaggeringly embraces Adamson's trademark genre-hopping compositions, covering Pop, Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop and Gospel.
