Johnnie Taylor — Wanted One Soul Singer (VMP Pressing) (Vinyl)
UPC > 810143932676
Johnnie Taylor's Wanted One Soul Singer is the 1967 debut from the Stax Records mainstay who would go on to cut "Who's Making Love" and a run of Southern soul records that rival any in the catalog. This is the record that established him inside the Stax house-band ecosystem, with Booker T. and The M.G.'s backing, Isaac Hayes and David Porter writing, and the full Stax horn section working behind Taylor's voice. For shops with a serious soul section, this is a building-block title.
Pressed on 180g black vinyl. AAA lacquers cut from the original mono tapes by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound and plated at Welcome to 1979. Tip-on jacket replicating the original Stax cover artwork.
