Steve Hobbs- Second Encounter
Steve Hobbs first outing on Candid, "On the Lower East Side," featured him with what might be described as the All-American rhythm section: The impeccable Kenny Barron on piano, plus master craftsmen Peter Washington and Victor Lewis. The collaboration worked so well that practically a year to the day after that "First Encounter," the participants reunited for this album. The selections presented here are an intriguing mixture of standards and Hobbs originals. Steve is rightly proud of his ability to put new window dressing on old standards, and the end result sounds fresh and original.
Tracklist:
- Vie en Rose, La
- Daahoud
- Amazing Spiderman, The
- Airegin
- Waiting for Julie Ann
- When Johnny Comes Marching Home
- Bossa de Buzios
- You Are Too Beautiful
- Move
- Blues for a Way of Life
