A few years after Ruines Nouvelles and Bouleversement Majeur (both selected by FIP), French songwriter Le Flegmatic returns with Un Cambio de Perspectiva, a collection of nine intimate and slightly unhinged folk songs. The album was written in the Aspe Valley in the Pyrenees while Thomas Boudineau was working as a postman between mountain villages. Between two delivery routes, the songs slowly appeared - often recorded in a Dictaphone parked on the roadside. There he met Oliver Potratz (Shake Stew), whose double bass became the backbone of the record. Together they performed the songs in small cultural venues across the Béarn mountains before recording them. His childhood friend Julien Barbagallo (drummer with Tame Impala) will also be providing the rhythm section on two tracks from the album. With it's mix of minimal folk, jazz textures and surreal humor, Un Cambio de Perspectiva explores a simple idea: sometimes the world doesn't need to change - we just need a slight change of perspective.
